Send a message to the person who requested a photo of the grave monument of Eliza Hemmerde Elstob with the following comment:
Hi and thanks in advance,This lady is a distant cousin of mine, 2nd cousin 4 x removed. I hope this is not too obscure for you to let me have a copy of the gravestone photo ... I live in South Yorkshire and wouldn't ever have been able to see it otherwise.I have traced my Elstob forward and backwards from Durham to London, everywhere and anywhere - your site came up on a Google search.Eliza appears to have been left money by her parents, her father was a fairly wealthy merchant or hosier (so merchant in stockings, I guess) in Camberwell, London. Her eldest brother appears to have disgraced the family by ending up in prison on charges of stealing postage stamps so maybe he was disinherited, her middle brother and his wife just vanish after 1871, so it seems she ended up a wealthy spinster. But if was living in London in 1891 (with a Hemmerde cousin) how did she die in Felixstowe, Suffolk in 1894?Any information gratefully received.Lindalinda@yourpint.com
